Mapping Our Internal Landscapes

Do you find that the square page of boxes of traditional calendars don’t quite capture what’s most important in your life? Do you find that your life can become too full of “must do” and “have to do” and less of “want to do?”

This workshop provides a window into another method of tracking your days, where you can create space to invite qualities such as joy and spaciousness into your life. You will do some journaling and guided imagery to identify what qualities you want to experience more of. Artist and doll-maker, Erika Cleveland will introduce you to a method of using a non-linear calendar.

This second workshop on calendar and journaling is open to those who did not attend the first session and will give those that did more time to create the leaflets of your calendar. All are welcome.

No previous art-making experience necessary. Materials will be provided to create the structure of a small, pocketbook sized journal which can be used in 2016 to track what really matters to you. You will leave with lots of ideas on how you might further embellish and expand on your journal in the year to come.

Suggested donation: $20

Our programs are open to the community, and tailored to meet the needs of people affected by cancer. Classes and workshops are free or low cost on a pay-as-you-can basis, ensuring that our programs are accessible to everyone.

About Erika Cleveland

Erika Cleveland

Artist, writer, and healer, Erika Cleveland was trained as an art therapist at NYU. After working clinically for many years with children and adults in settings such as the International Center for the Disabled in NYC and Boston Children’s Hospital, she studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Her current focus is on the ways in which changes, big and small, cataclysmic and celebratory, force us to grow and reinvent ourselves. In addition to offering healing doll workshops, she makes commissioned healing dolls. She is an Associate artist at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA, where she makes and shows her dolls. She can also be found in her new studio at the Jackson Art Center in Georgetown, DC. When not at the Torpedo Factory, Erika can be found working in her tiny DC home studio. Or she might be hanging out with her husband, two kids ( two teens and her 100-pound bull dog who thinks he’s a lap dog.) You can find more of her work at http://www.transformativehealingdolls.com/.
