Restoring Foods for Recovery and Healing

Fall, harvest time, gives us a bounty of foods to nourish us after cancer treatment ends. Join Chef and Oncology Nurse, Laura Pole, and learn about foods that help your body’s natural cleansing systems as well as heal your gastrointestinal tract. You’ll learn to make delicious healing broths and soups. You’ll also find out about grain, bean and vegetable dishes that heal your intestinal tract and feed your healthy microorganisms. You’ll see how fermented foods are used to replenish those healthy microorganisms. Best of all, you’ll share a delicious meal with your classmates who are also on that restoration journey!
If you attended this class in the Spring, come again, because we'll have recipes that put the spotlight on foods of the Fall harvest.

About Laura Pole
Laura Pole, RN, MSN, comes with a diverse educational background including a Masters degree in nursing, chef certification and professional music training. For over 20 years, she has been merging her careers as a health supportive chef, professional musician, oncology clinical nurse specialist, and a palliative care educator. Laura serves Smith Center in several ways: Director of Nourishment Education Programs, Director of Professional Trainings in Culinary Translation and Co-Creator/Coordinator of Patient Navigation Trainings. Laura is also on faculty for the nationally acclaimed Cancer Fighting Kitchen workshops.
