About the Exhibition:
From the Arts and Crafts movement to the Bauhaus and beyond, artists, architects, and designers aspired to create living spaces where every element worked together to create a harmonious whole, guided by aesthetics, function, and social purpose. Guest curator Jennifer Lindsay invites a community of new and established artists to transform the gallery into a "home," to challenge our assumptions about what can be locally made and, ultimately, to change our quotidian routines into rituals that are truly worth savoring. Featuring glass, furniture, textiles, ceramics, jewelry, and musical instruments by Shawn Arlauckas, Joseph Corcoran, Art Drauglis, Yoshi Fujii, Sylvia Gottwald, Matthew Hyleck, Gretchen Klimoski, David Knopp, Tamara Laird, Laurel Lukaszewski, Peter Malinoski, Yoko Sekino-Bovè, Vicco von Voss, and Caleb Woodard
Urban Bungalow will be open from October 31 - December 20, 2014. There will be an Opening Reception on Friday, November 7 at 7-9pm. This exhibition will also feature two creativity workshops. Put new life into your old clothes at Embellish It! Introduction to the Japanese art of Sashiko Embroidery, on Saturday, December 6 from 11am-3pm. And then join us on Wednesday, December 10 from 6-7:30pm to learn how to make your own yarn at Spin It! Introduction to Hand Spinning.
Please note: The gallery will be closed on 11/27 - 11/29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
