- Friday, April 13, 7-9pm
Join us for the opening of this multifaceted exhibition, in which Francie Hester, Lisa Hill, and Rebecca Kamen tackle the oft-unexplored complexities of human existence and visually ponder questions relating to loss, memory, and our connections to nature and one another.
Their points of entry are completely unique. Francie Hester, exhibiting her Connectome Series, focuses on the complexity and transitory nature of memory. Rebecca Kamen, with sound artist Susan Alexjander, explores the biological and metaphysical relationship with water and the body. Meanwhile, Lisa Hill charts her parents' signatures through the course of their lives, in order to examine how identity is formed and altered by the ravages of time and health.
Complementing the individual works, FLUID also features Words as Legacy – A Leaf of Knowledge, an installation by Hester and Hill inspired by the words left behind by Brendan Ogg, a young poet who passed away from brain cancer at age 20. An integral element of the installation includes community knitting by more than a hundred participants.
Together, FLUID’s works force us to step away from our daily routines, stare into the unknown, and seek deeper connection to one another, our past, and nature.
FLUID will also feature a writing workshop and an evening of literary performances. Click the links below to learn more and RSVP!
