Smith Center Living Well with Cancer One-Day Retreat

One-Day Retreats help participants strengthen their innate healing mechanisms, complementing medical care with knowledge and tools to help them live healthier and more fulfilling lives. The schedule includes gentle yoga, stress reduction, group discussions, creative activities, and talks on nutrition and healing.

Our one-day retreats offer an opportunity to experience many of the benefits of our weeklong residential cancer retreats in an abbreviated format. Our goal is to help participants make life-affirming changes by providing empowering tools and knowledge in a community of others facing a cancer diagnosis.

The retreat is a place to explore the issues and choices that people with a life threatening illness encounter. We aim to provide experiential healing options paired with the highest quality small-group support program for people with cancer.

“I do want to say that the one-day retreat was an absolute God-send for me. A cancer diagnosis is overwhelming and can feel very lonely and isolating. Having the opportunity to sit down with other cancer patients, survivors, caretakers, and professionals really made me feel so less alone and connected to a great group of loving, compassionate and understanding people. The retreat also provided me with perspective and new coping skills. My favorite part was the cooking demonstration. I have been making the recipes religiously and I hope to attend more of the cooking classes.” – Program Participant

The cost of the program is $40 per person. An application is required to participate. Please note that space is limited to 12 participants to ensure the best possible progam quality. If the program has filled to capacity, we can place you on the waiting list and let you know if/when a space becomes available.

For an application, please email programs@smithcenter.org or call 202.483.8600.
