With Carole O'Toole, Director, Integrative Navigation
Our three-part series on Navigating Cancer is designed to offer resources for newly diagnosed patients and those in the early post-treatment stages by empowering them to enhance their own role as they navigate their way through the cancer experience. The series is based on Smith Center’s groundbreaking Integrative Patient Navigation program and training for cancer care.
A cancer diagnosis requires us to use our best decision-making faculties. Often, the information and options can be overwhelming. In this session, Carole O'Toole will guide you through developing your personal integrative care plan. Carole will share practical wisdom on selecting your medical and complementary practitioners, choosing supportive therapies responsibly, and making the most of your health care team. Specifics to be addressed include:
- Selecting a doctor
- Getting second opinions
- Asking questions
- Recording & taking notes at appointments
- Using the "Stop, Look, Listen" approach to selecting integrative therapies and practitioners
- Managing family and friends
- Job considerations
Smith Center advocates the use of both medical and complementary modalities to facilitate healing on all levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Note: We are pleased to offer a discount for those who register early!
The cost for this program is:
- $8 if you register by January 13
- $10 if you register after January 13
