Smith Center Living Well with Cancer One-Day RetreatThis one-day retreat is designed for caregivers, often the spouse, partner, friend, or relative who accompanies a loved-one on what is frequently an exhausting and arduous cancer journey. In this one-day retreat we will explore stress management and self-care with yoga, nutrition and creativity, sharing information and personal experience in support of caregivers' unique needs.

Our one-day retreats offer an opportunity to experience many of the benefits of our Weeklong Cancer Retreats in an abbreviated format. Our goal is to help participants make life-affirming changes by providing empowering tools and knowledge in a community of others facing a cancer diagnosis.

"I do want to say that the one-day retreat was an absolute God-send for me. A cancer diagnosis is overwhelming and can feel very lonely and isolating. Having the opportunity to sit down with other cancer patients, survivors, caretakers, and professionals really made me feel so less alone and connected to a great group of loving, compassionate and understanding people. The retreat also provided me with perspective and new coping skills. My favorite part was the cooking demonstration. I have been making the recipes religiously and I hope to attend more of the cooking classes." – Program Participant

The cost of the program is $45 per person. An application is required to participate. Please note that space is limited to 12 participants to ensure the best possible progam quality. If the program has filled to capacity, we can place you on the waiting list and let you know if/when a space becomes available.

We apologize but this program has been postponed. Please email darien@smithcenter.org or call 202.483.8600 to inquire about future dates.

Scholarships & Giving Back

For those in need — Free programs and Scholarship Assistance
We aim to offer free and low-cost programs, affordable to anyone who would like to participate. If you would like to attend a program, but find the cost to be a barrier, fill out a scholarship request form or email programs@smithcenter.org. Full or partial scholarship assistance is available for most programs.

For those who can give — Donations
As a nonprofit, we rely on your support to keep our programs going. Registration fees cover less than half of what it costs to provide our programs. If you're able to give a little extra (or a lot), it will help ensure that all who are in need of Smith Center's resources will receive them.

It’s easy to add a secure donation during your registration process at the top of the "Checkout" page.  We thank you for your support!
