With Laura Pole
- Friday, August 22, 6:30-8pm
Join Smith Center’s own Laura Pole as she leads us in song on a sultry summer evening. Laura will both entertain and engage us in joining together in song. Some of the songs will make you laugh; others may bring a tear to your eyes as you experience their deep well of meaning. If you’ve been with Laura on retreat, enjoyed her amusing renditions at cooking classes, or this will be your introduction, you can be certain this will be an evening filled with the warmth of the Smith Center community. All voices welcome! Song sheets and snacks will be provided.
About Laura Pole
Laura Pole is a singer-songwriter based in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. For more than 20 years, she has been performing across the country with Trifolkal, the “far-sighted folk trio fiercely dedicated to fun!” Her voice is often compared to Judy Collins, who indeed was one of Laura’s early musical influences Her first solo recording, "Born to Sing," features Laura’s beautiful, clear and moving voice. The CD is a blend of original contemporary folk compositions and unique arrangements of folk, soft rock and jazz cover tunes.
Laura is not only a musician; she’s also a hospice and oncology nurse, a health supportive chef and a dance instructor, vocations that have inspired many of the songs she has composed. She travels across the Commonwealth of Virginia and throughout the United States and into Mexico weaving her music into her nursing care, her cooking, her workshops and her dance. Laura personifies the art of healing through her healing arts.
