Roll It Up (in the kitchen!)

Healthy Cooking Class at Smith CenterHave you ever wanted to know how to roll up sushi? Or make the wonderful soft Spring rolls available at local Thai restaurants? Then this is the class for you. Come learn to roll up whole grains and vegetables in fun summer-type food, perfect for parties, summer lunch or a picnic. Learn to make several dips to pair with the roll-ups and adapt to personal tastes and the seasons.

A discussion will focus on the nutritional benefits and techniques for working with the featured foods that will include:

  • whole grain brown rice
  • rice noodles and wraps
  • seaweed
  • fresh vegetables

This is a beginner/intermediate level class.

About Juliette Tahar

From 1992 to 2003, Juliette G. Tahar operated "Juliette's Delicious Meals," a natural and organic foods cooking service that provided Washington-area residents and organizations with access to natural foods through home delivery, catering and educational programs. Juliette is the founder and president of Healthy Living, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to educational services which she established in 2003.

Scholarships & Giving Back

For those in need — Free programs and Scholarship Assistance
We aim to offer free and low-cost programs, affordable to anyone who would like to participate. If you would like to attend a program, but find the cost to be a barrier, fill out a scholarship request form or email programs@smithcenter.org. Full or partial scholarship assistance is available for most programs.

For those who can give — Donations
As a nonprofit, we rely on your support to keep our programs going. Registration fees cover less than half of what it costs to provide our programs. If you're able to give a little extra (or a lot), it will help ensure that all who are in need of Smith Center's resources will receive them.
