World Interfaith Peace Service

Sunday, September 11th - Honoring the 10th Anniversary of 9/11

- Sunday, September 11th at 1pm

YantraJoin us for a  World Interfaith Peace Service to celebrate the power of peace on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at our U Street Center. The ceremony is based on a unique interfaith service that has been practiced for over 30 years. Representatives of different world faith traditions will gather around a single altar and each offer readings, poems, prayers and music that represents their tradition and are in keeping with a spirit of brotherhood and peace amongst all peoples. As has been done previously, primarily lay individuals will represent a tradition that has deeply influenced their life and thinking. This event is an inspiring and uplifting celebration of the oneness of the human spirit - particularly important in times of conflict and extremism.

This event is part of The 9/11 Arts Project, a citywide collaboration that will kick off a “year of healing,” with multi-venue and multi-genre events to take place around the anniversary and throughout the year.
