Move over graffiti artists! Yarn-bombing is covering the town and we want you to join us in creating a public art piece that will climb up the gallery's U Street facade! Join in this exciting yarn-bomb project by creating a knit or crochet piece on Saturday, October 26th from 11am to 2.30pm.
Stop by the gallery to get a knitting or crochet tutorial by our yarn-bomb dream team, led by yarn bomb curator Stacy Cantrell, and create a piece to add to the upcoming installation set to open on November 8th!
All levels are welcome! Needles, hooks, and yarn will be provided.
More info about Yarn-Bombing:
Yarn-Bombing combines traditional knitting and crochet methods with contemporary street art and graffiti practice. While the practice originated with a knit cozy over the door handle of a craft shop in Texas, in recent years artists have pushed the yarn bombing limit, creating public art pieces by creating cozies for trees, lampposts, sculptures, potholes, even an entire train -- practically anything can be yarn bombed!
