With Chelsea Kennedy, MA, ATR, CZT
- Saturday, April 19, 10am-1pm
Anything is possible, one stroke at a time!
This is not your typical drawing class – there’s no pressure to make your drawing look like something, no preconceived ideas of a final result, and no fear of your artistic abilities. Become empowered and discover new possibilities by trusting your instincts!
Zentangle is defined as a marriage of “Zen” (meditative relaxation) and “tangle” (beautifully drawn patterned artwork). Using this drawing technique of structured patterns and simple repetitive marks, Chelsea will show you the simple steps of Zentangle that are both easy and fun! The act of putting pen to paper with an unknown outcome deliberately focuses one’s attention on the moment, leading to both mindfulness and relaxation. The process of Zentangle helps your creativity flourish and will result in artistic satisfaction, even if you believe you’re not not an artist.
The paper and pens needed for Zentangle will be provided. This workshop is open to all ranges of artistic experience.
For counselors, art therapists, expressive therapists, social workers, marriage and family therapists who wish to receive CECs, the workshop objectives are:
- 1) Attendees will be able to list three ways that Zentangle is used therapeutically to broaden possibilities and expand creative potential.
- 2) Attendees will understand how Zentangle can decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression, and improve mood.
- 3) Attendees will be able to list three approaches for incorporating Zentangle into art therapy to benefit clients.
Note: We are pleased to offer a discount for those who register early!
The cost for this program is:
- $25 if you register by April 16
- $30 if you register after April 16

For those who can give — Donations
As a nonprofit, we rely on your support to keep our programs going. Registration fees cover less than half of what it costs to provide our programs. If you're able to give a little extra (or a lot), it will help ensure that all who are in need of Smith Center's resources will receive them.
It’s easy to add a secure donation during your registration process at the top of the "Checkout" page. We thank you for your support!
