Established in 2008, the Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery at Smith Center for Healing and the Arts is a non-profit art space nestled in the U Street corridor in Washington, DC, this gallery serves as a beacon of inspiration.

Embracing a dynamic exhibition calendar, the gallery welcomes contemporary artists from diverse backgrounds, each exploring a myriad of profound themes. These themes encompass spirituality, societal evolution, cultural diversity, well-being, environmental consciousness, and the power of community.

Joan Hisaoka

The gallery is honored to carry the name of Joan Hisaoka and to continue her commitment to fostering community through the creative arts. Joan Hisaoka, founder of Hisaoka Public Relations, was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and friend who lost her battle to cancer on May 14, 2008. Her generosity of spirit, strength of mind and selfless attitude were characteristic of her life. Joan will be forever remembered for her unending commitment and passion to help make the world a better place for others.
