Individual Integrative Patient Navigation
A patient navigator offers compassionate guidance and support for patients and their caregivers to help them understand their care options as they make their way through the intricate landscape of cancer. They share information and resources that can guide decision-making and empower patients to embrace their inner strength and resilience.
At Smith Center, our approach to patient navigation is grounded in the principles of integrative care, aiming to empower individuals to harness their innate healing abilities and lead better, potentially longer lives. Our dedicated team of integrative navigators is committed to providing education, information, community connection, resource assistance, and emotional support, enabling each person to take an active role in their healing and overall well-being.
We understand that living with cancer brings forth unique challenges, regardless of where you find yourself on your path – whether it’s receiving a new diagnosis, undergoing treatment, focusing on recovery, or navigating a recurrence. With utmost respect and reverence, we create a safe and confidential space where you can freely explore your personal challenges. We walk alongside you, with empathy and understanding, to make your experience less burdensome and more aligned with your individual life circumstances.
No two engagements with an integrative patient navigator look the same, and our services are customized to the needs and priorities of the patient. Smith Center’s integrative navigation services are offered free of charge, because we believe that no one should go through cancer alone.
Integrative Navigation Services Request FormFree Short Term Therapy Services
Cancer impacts people in a variety of ways, including their mental health. There is also a lack of mental health services in the DMV that specialize in therapy for cancer patients. Seeing this gap in services, Smith Center is excited to offer free, short-term individual teletherapy for those impacted by cancer (including patients, survivors, or caregivers).
This program provides short-term (up to 12 sessions) therapy aimed at creating space to process life with and after cancer.
Personalized Therapy ServicesSmith Center’s heart-centered patient navigation model places great importance on integrating complementary therapies that nurture your physical well-being, helping you better cope with the side effects of cancer and its treatments, while supporting your recovery and overall wellness. Moreover, we offer an abundance of creative resources that address the profound emotional and spiritual aspects that arise from a cancer diagnosis. These resources provide transformative opportunities for healing on all levels, fostering a comprehensive and holistic approach to your well-being.
