Chair Yoga

If I’ve learned anything from living life, it’s that change happens. A consistent yoga practice can help soften the edges of change and give us some calming, strengthening strategies to get through whatever life brings us.

This program will show a variety of yogic techniques allowing participants to choose what works best for them in the moment. Needs may change daily, weekly, after a success, before a stressful moment and, after this program, you will have strategies to meet what comes your way.

This course will be offered in three one-hour parts. In each class, I will offer examples of pranayama (yogic breathing), meditation (moving and still) and asana (yoga poses). During the first session, I will show you the Joint Freeing Series and how to modify it to suit a variety of needs. During the second class, we will talk about seated poses and how to use a chair for support. In the third week, we will focus on poses on the mat. Participants will try different ideas during the week and we’ll have a brief Q&A at the beginning of the second and third classes.

I am looking forward to sharing this with you. Join us for a series of three classes where you will learn to use yoga poses, breathing techniques, and meditative practices to create meaningful and personalized practices that will benefit you in any situation.

About Beth Lawrence
Beth Lawrence

Beth discovered yoga in early 2002 as a mother of six month old twins. She was looking to get back into shape after their birth. In yoga, she found far more than she anticipated- an age old practice designed to help people relieve stress- both mental and physical. After a few years of regular practice, she knew she wanted to share her positive experiences with others. She has been leading yoga classes in the DC area since 2007 after completing her 200 hour yoga teacher training at Nth Degree Yoga with Martha Rosen. In 2011, she went back to earn her RYT500. Her personal practice is inspired by Integral Yoga and Sivananda Yoga, both of which incorporate body and mind into the practice.
