Join 2Unstoppable for our new monthly Pilates series!  Taught by Cancer Exercise Specialist Cori Price, Pilates can safely and effectively strengthen your core, increase muscle strength and tone, balance muscular strengths on both sides of your body, and help with breath, focus, and control.

Yoga 4 Cancer

Whether you are new to yoga or an experienced yoga practitioner, this class is for anyone touched by cancer, including caregivers, family & friends.

Once registered, you will receive a Zoom invite to join the day of class. An invitation will be sent around 20 minutes before the start time of class.

2Unstoppable Barre

Join Cori for a low impact, high-intensity and body strengthening workout! This class offers a full-body workout, made for cancer survivors, and will build strength as well as agility and flexibility.
Equipment Needed:
  • a stable surface to use as your “barre”, such as a wall, a sturdy chair or countertop
  • a mat or a carpeted surface for floor work
  • a pilates ball is recommended but not required and you could substitute a throw pillow
  • something to add resistance such as light hand weights, cans of food or water bottles
  • Gliders will be used for this class and you can use household items such as a sock, a paper plate or plastic bag as your glider.
  • Be sure to have water nearby and remember to work at your own pace!

2Unstoppable Zumba Gold

Zumba Gold is a modified Zumba Fitness program that combines low-impact exercise with the feeling of a dance party! Zumba is known for its upbeat Latin music, and this class will include popular music, world music, and show tunes too. The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion, and coordination. Come ready to sweat and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong.

Wear sneakers and comfortable clothes that are easy to move in and place a water bottle and towel nearby. No prior Zumba or dance experience is required. We look forward to dancing with you!

Join us (via Zoom) with licensed Zumba and Zumba Gold instructor Catherine Allen from Zumba with Judy & JRO Fitness.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting, including a passcode!

Zumba

Join Cori Price, Cancer Exercise Specialist and Zumba Instructor, for a fun Zumba class. We will move and dance 2Ugether to fun and upbeat music! Each Zumba class is designed to bring people 2Ugether to “sweat it on” while taking the work out of workout, mixing low and high intensity moves for an interval-style dance fitness party.
Try this joyful form of movement with us via Zoom in the comfort (and privacy!) of your own home!

Nueva Vida es una organización independiente, sin fines de lucro, que proporciona servicios integrales de cáncer gratuitos, a las familias latinas en el Distrito de Columbia, Virginia del Norte (hasta el sur de Prince William County), Suburban Maryland (Condados de Montgomery y Prince George), Richmond, y Baltimore. Otros servicios incluyen educación y divulgación en la comunidad latina, asi como navegación de pacientes para exámenes de detección y tratamiento de cáncer.

En Smith Center, Nueva Vida tendrá grupos de apoyo que se enfocan en el apoyo al trauma asociado con el diagnóstico de cáncer. Smith Center Now Hosting Support Groups for the Latino Community in Spanish

Nueva Vida is an independent nonprofit that provides free, comprehensive, culturally competent cancer services to medically underserved Latino families in the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia (as far south as Prince William County), Suburban Maryland (Montgomery & Prince George’s Counties), Richmond, and Baltimore. Other services include outreach to the Latino community and Patient Navigation for cancer screenings and treatment.

At Smith Center, Nueva Vida will be providing support groups that are focused on supporting the trauma associated with a cancer diagnosis. These groups provide Latina women the opportunity to experience a catharsis of feelings, where they feel safe to identify, verbalize, empathize, and share their feelings with others who are in similar circumstances. All support group meetings are paired with a stress reduction activity (either Zumba or Yoga).
